About Tales of Kashmir
Our Vision
Tales of Kashmir is a digital archival and media platform dedicated to documenting the complex cultural, historical, and social landscapes of the Kashmir Valley. We believe that history is not a single line, but a tapestry of parallel narratives that deserve to be preserved with dignity, accuracy, and empathy.
What We Do
In an era of rapid digital change, much of our regional heritage—from ancient architecture and linguistic nuances to the lived experiences of our elders—risks being lost to time. We bridge the gap between the past and the future through:
Cultural Documentation: Deep dives into the history of Kashmiri architecture, archaeological sites, and spiritual philosophy.
Social Narratives: Highlighting the human stories behind the headlines, focusing on resilience, "Kashmiriyat," and shared heritage.
Digital Archiving: Using modern storytelling tools, high-resolution photography, and data-driven reporting to create a permanent record of our evolving society.
Linguistic Preservation: Celebrating the resilience of the Koshur language and its literary history.
Our Editorial Standard
We operate under a "Multi-Vocal" editorial policy. This means we do not shy away from the complexities of our history. Whether documenting the pain of displacement or the endurance of those who stayed, we treat every narrative as a vital piece of the Kashmiri story.
We are committed to:
Fact-Based Reporting: Utilizing official records, historical archives, and verified data.
Transparency: Clearly disclosing the use of digital archival tools and AI-assisted visualizations in our creative process.
Ethical Storytelling: Prioritizing the dignity of our subjects and adhering to the latest digital media ethics and government regulations.
